As a young teen I stumbled upon a photograph of three furry dogs which looked nothing short of three piles of algea: one brown, one black, and one white. These dogs, allegidly hipoallergic, seemed the ideal compromise between my wish for a dog, my lifestyle, esthetic sense, and the constraints this desire could cause in a family.
